How Can Our Compulsory Courses Help You?

 

Every high school student in Ontario is required to complete a set of courses before they can graduate. Also known as compulsory courses in Ontario high schools, these credits allow those who earn them to become eligible to obtain the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

The different compulsory courses in an Ontario high school are as follows:

·         4 credits in English

·         3 credits in Mathematics

·         2 credits in Science

·         1 credit in Canadian History

·         1 credit in Canadian Geography

·         1 credit in the Arts

·         1 credit in Health and Physical education

·         1 credit in French as a second language

·         0.5 credit in Career Studies

·         0.5 credit in Civics

In addition, students must also complete 12 optional credits, 40 hours of community involvement activities, and the provincial literary.

This list may seem overwhelming at first. The good news is that you aren’t required to take them all in one go. For example, the four English credits are divided into one credit per grade, and one Mathematics credit can be earned during Grade 11 or 12. You can also enroll in our program for compulsory courses in Ontario high schools.

USCA Academy offers reliable OSSD programs for both local and international students, helping you with credit transfer by taking courses based on the Ministry of Education standards. Before you know it, you’re well on your way to earning your secondary school diploma!

We use a semester-based curriculum that spans over two years, giving you the freedom to choose subjects according to your needs. For instance, if you’re having trouble with Science, you can take our credit courses from Grades 9 to 12.

This program is perfect for international students who could not complete their high school education in their native countries, especially those who wish to pursue their studies at the same level!

Plus, once you obtain your OSSD, you’ll be able to get admission to some of Canada’s best universities. You will be assigned an Academic Guidance Counselor to help you throughout the program, as well as a personalised study plan.
